The first domino fell for LSU baseball following a disappointing 2026 season. Right-handed pitcher Mavrick Rizy will enter the transfer portal, according to a report from On3's Pete Nakos on Tuesday.

Rizy spent two seasons with the Tigers in a relief role. He posted a 4.50 ERA through 46 innings with 57 strikeouts while in Baton Rouge. As part of the 2025 signing class, he ranked in the top-50 of true freshmen and was rated the No. 1 player in the state of Massachusetts by Perfect Game

As a freshman, Rizy played a key role in getting the team to the College World Series. He recorded three scoreless appearances in the Regional and Super Regional round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The righty made a team-high 24 reliefs appearances and posted a 4.74 ERA.

NEW: LSU RHP Mavrick Rizy plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, @PeteNakos reports.

The six-foot-nine, 251 pounder is a loss for head coach Jay Johnson's bullpen. Rizy was one of the lone bright spots on a pitching staff that experienced a down year in 2026. He'll draw plenty of attention from Power Four suitors once the transfer window opens.
