ERIE — The Meadville boys basketball team lost 86-42 to McDowell in a Region 7 contest at McDowell on Friday.

Amarius Foster (15), Braelyn Lockett (11) and Tykie Butler (10) each scored in doubled digits for the Bulldogs. Meadville ended the regular season 7-14 overall and 0-6 in region games.

Meadville is the only Class 5A school in District 10 and will play a sub-regional with the District 9 champion at a time and place to be announced.

Eagles fall to Oilers

OIL CITY — Conneaut's boys basketball team lost 70-54 to Oil City in a Region 5 contest on Friday.

Alex Wilpula led the Eagles with 21 points. Nick Garcia added 14 points and Noah Scott scored 12.

Conneaut ended its season 6-15 overall and 3-10 in region games.

Spa tops Muskies

JAMESTOWN — Cambridge Springs sophomore Isaac Laniewicz splashed seven 3-pointers and led the Blue Devils to a 59-32 win over Jamestown on Friday.

Laniewicz scored 31 points to lead all scorers. Isaiah Simpson and Latavion Fitzpatrick added 10 and nine points, respectively.

Cambridge Springs moved to 6-15 overall and ended its region slate 4-8. The Blue Devils will end the regular season today with a non-region game against North East at 2:30 p.m.

Seniors lead Cardinals to win

HADLEY — Cochranton seniors Walker Carroll and Brady Rynd scored 19 and 17 points, respectively, to lead the Cardinals boys basketball team 61-43 over Commodore Perry.

The Region 2 win gave the Cardinals an 8-3 region record this season. They finished the regular season 14-8.

Cards defend Bird Cage

COCHRANTON — Cochranton's girls basketball team ended the regular season on a high note with a 43-29 non-region win at The Bird Cage on Friday.

Junior Alaina Shorts led all scorers with 19 points, which included two 3-pointers. Senior Lexi Irwin added nine points.

Cochranton ended the regular season 12-9 overall and on a four-game winning streak.

Four Bulldogs qualify for districts

Four members of the Meadville swimming team qualified for the District 10 championship with their performance at Thursday's meet against Warren.

Paxton Smith, Noah Bliss, Elijah Miller and Taylor Tidball earned their way to the D-10 meet, set for Feb. 27 and 28 at the S.P.I.R.E. Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Smith qualified in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1 minute and 14.92 seconds. Bliss qualified in the 200 individual medley (2:27.72) and Miller made it in the 50 freestyle (25.33). Tidball qualified in the 500 freestyle (6:04.81) and the 50 freestyle.
