COCHRANTON — Cochranton took another step toward winning Region 2 in girls basketball on Thursday. The Cardinals put up 58 in their 58-24 win over Rocky Grove.
Both Lexi Irwin and Claire McCartney scored 13 for Cochranton. Irwin put up six two-point baskets and went 1-2 from the line for her 13. McCartney scored 5 total baskets, including a 3-pointer and went 2-4 from the foul line on route to her 13 points. Jaidin Frayer and Karmyn Reese added seven in the win.
Cochranton is 8-1 in region play and 8-8 overall. The Cardinals will face Commodore Perry at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Jamestown takes down Cambridge Springs
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — The Cambridge Springs girls basketball team hosted region foe Jamestown on Thursday. Jamestown took the win 54-23.
Kylie Hayes scored 10 to led Cambridge Springs and Natalie Hoke added six.
The Blue Devils fell to 0-8 in Region 2 and 2-15 overall. Cambridge Springs travels to Saegertown at noon on Saturday.

Eagles edge Oilers
OIL CITY — The Conneaut Eagles snapped their two game losing streak to grab an important Region 5 win on Thursday. Conneaut took down Oil City on the road 45-43
Courtney Perrye led the Eagles with 6 total buckets and seven made free throws, for 21 points. BreAnne Dendis scored five field goals for 10 points.
With the win, Conneaut tied Oil City for second in Region 5 at a 3-2 record. The Eagles are 10-8 overall. Conneaut hosts Meadville at 7 p.m. on Monday for another region game.

Maplewood wins eighth in a row
HADLEY — Maplewood scored 10 more than Commodore Perry in girls basketball to win 51-41. The Tigers grab their eighth win a row and keep pace in Region 2.
Maggie Means put down seven total baskets and one free throw to lead the Tigers with 16 points. Both Nelle Beck and Brooke Kennedy added 12 in the win. Kennedy scored four 3-point baskets to lead the team and Beck shot down six from inside the arc.
Maplewood moved to 8-1 in Region 2, to stay tied for first place. The Tigers are 12-6 overall. Maplewood hosts Saegertown at 7 p.m. on Monday for more Region 2 play.

SHARPSVILLE — The Saegertown girls wrestling team picked up a victory on Wednesday. The Panthers were able to grab six victories on their way to a 36-24 decision.
Leah Sample (118) and Emma Spencer (124) both won their bouts by means of pinning their opponent. Aaliyah Morris, Hanna Beck, Royale Reno-Gaus and Sarah Groger took home victories by forfeit.
Saegertown moved to 2-3 on the year and take part in the North Allegheny Girls Invitational Friday and Saturday. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
