Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton spoke up about what the team could change to make him happier and more at home in his car.
In his second season, Lewis Hamilton is delivering on all of the hype of his Ferrari move and then some. He has been a podium contender regularly and has won his first race in Scuderia red.
However, things are not totally rosy at Ferrari.
After his maiden win with Ferrari, Hamilton made it clear that he did not like the lack of red in his car, missing the color scheme he grew up watching on Ferrari.

“It was 30 years ago that Michael won,” Hamilton said. “I would have been at home on my couch watching that race. Probably like many of you, with a plate on my lap, eating a sandwich or maybe chicken noodle soup or something like that on a Sunday – I was 12 – if I wasn’t racing.
“I was just looking at that red car and thinking, ‘I wonder what it’s like sitting in that red cockpit?’ My cockpit happens to be white, which I’ve not been too happy about. I wanted to be red like Michael’s. I’ll get it back to red at some stage.
“But what it would be like to sit in that red car, which I got to experience last year, but then be in that red suit, standing in first place in front of that amazing crew who was singing the national anthem.”
The result was on merit, as the Ferrari showed good pace in the later stints, proving quite easy on the tires compared to the Mercedes.
The result did not come out of nowhere; Hamilton has been building all year long, proving to be a match for Leclerc, if not even outright faster at some tracks, like Barcelona.
Hamilton underwent a full mental rest and reset over the offseason, and with the car underneath him, he is poised for a comeback to the title picture.
“It was really amazing to witness and to see the joy in their eyes and to feel it with them,” he said. “I nearly passed out after I hugged them. My heart was exploding with joy.”
