The NBA and its fans alike are all awaiting word from LeBron James on his impending free agency decision. And it's going to remain that way for as long as it takes the 41-year-old to decide on his next team ahead of the 2026-27 season. However, just like fans have witnessed throughout his incredible NBA career, the former Los Angeles Lakers star undeniably knows how to grab attention, and that was on display at the Fanatics Fest on Friday.
While speaking about his next team during a live taping of The Shop, James dropped a casual comment that he wants to go to a franchise that's "trusting the process." Not surprisingly, the fans in attendance immediately began buzzing with shouts of "hold on, hold on," while James offered a smirk and quick glance to someone off-screen, as Anthony Ricardo of Empire Sports Media highlighted.

This obviously sparked the reaction it did, as that was the Philadelphia 76ers' go-to phrase during Sam Hinkie's tenure as general manager. The 76ers embraced the popular phrase, which was even more magnified after the team landed center Joel Embiid.
While James made it clear at Fanatics Fest that he wouldn't announce his free-agency decision on Friday, many fans took his "trusting the process" comment as a hint pointing toward the 76ers. However, there have been several subtle hints that have left fans guessing, and there's an obvious reason to believe this could just be another comment that we should avoid reading too much into.
As things stand, though, the 76ers are believed to be in the mix alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.

LeBron James said he wants to go to a franchise that “trusts the process.”
The crowd absolutely lit up and LeBron responded that he’s been saying “trust the process” since he was drafted in 2003.
He clarified it was NOT a hint that he’s going to the Philadelphia 76ers. pic.twitter.com/My7GKAbpGR
