The basketball world is watching, listening, scrolling and reading in the hope of learning where Akron native LeBron James will play next.
The Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors are widely considered the most likely landing spots for James, and the Cavs went on the record for the first time about their pursuit on Sunday, July 12, when coach Kenny Atkinson told SiriusXM NBA Radio Cleveland is "in the mix" to sign James.
Agent Rich Paul informed the Los Angeles Lakers on June 30 James would not return to LA, where he spent the past eight seasons, starting the sweepstakes for James in NBA free agency.
But when will the wait end for James — or Paul — to reveal James' highly anticipated decision?
Three scenarios could unfold this week surrounding scheduled public speaking appearances by James on Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17, at Fanatics Fest NYC. The event will be held at the Javits Center in New York.

Given James' dominance of the NBA news cycle for two weeks and counting, anything he says at Fanatics Fest is going to be treated as if it's content gold.
James is scheduled to appear for a live recording of his "Mind the Game" podcast at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Fanatics Fest. Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is slated to be James' special guest and co-host.
James is also set to appear for a live recording of "The Shop" talk show at noon Friday, July 17, at Fanatics Fest. Steelo Brim and Travis Bennett will serve as co-hosts with James, Maverick Carter and Novak Djokovic in guest roles.
Whatever James says about his free agency will generate headlines. This past weekend, the coach of the Cavs is the one who made news.
"We're in the mix for the greatest player of all time," Atkinson said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "... It's exciting. I think you're nervous, but we understand how it is. Obviously, he's earned that right to take his time. Obviously, family plays a big part of it. But I know the state of Ohio, man. There's something special there."

Atkinson also alluded to the Cavs trying to secure a third tour with James while appearing on Prime Video's telecast of the team's Summer League game against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, July 12.
"You guys know there’s a little free-agency thing going on right now," Atkinson said. "That could be our real jump, and you know what I’m talking about. So, that’s exciting, too."
James will soon be speaking for himself.
