The next hearing date has reportedly been set for New England Patriots edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the rookie defender appeared in court "briefly" on June 29, and he is scheduled to return on August 28, which would be one day after the Patriots' preseason finale. Hutchins pleaded not guilty to an assault and battery charge for an alleged incident involving a family member or member of the household, which was reported by WBZ News of CBS Boston back in May.

The former standout Boston College defender was selected in the seventh round with the 247th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Patriots. There is hope that he can emerge as a contributor to a pass rush that has more questions than answers right now in New England.

The team spent its second-round draft pick on former Illinois defender Gabe Jacas, who has yet to sign his rookie contract. Jacas did not participate in any of the spring practices with the team.

There are also questions surrounding veteran Harold Landry III, who has been banged up, heading into his ninth NFL season. Aside from Hutchins, Jacas and Landry, the Patriots also have Dre'Mont Jones, Elijah Ponder, Bradyn Swinson and Jesse Luketa as edge rushing options.
