As much attention as the Ravens have devoted to learning a new offensive system this offseason, Lamar Jackson believes the most important progress may have happened away from the whiteboard.
For Jackson, the biggest takeaway from OTAs and minicamp isn't a specific play, formation or concept. It's the relationships that continue to develop throughout the roster.
The quarterback stressed that chemistry remains one of the most important ingredients for success, especially when an offense is learning new terminology and adjusting to a new coaching staff.
When asked what he'll take away from the offseason program, Jackson immediately focused on his teammates.
Part of that process has involved working closely with younger players and receivers fighting for roster spots.
Jackson has been encouraged by what he's seen.
The Ravens quarterback also emphasized why those relationships matter throughout a long NFL season.
Jackson understands that injuries and unexpected circumstances are inevitable.
Whether it's veterans, rookies, or developmental players, Jackson wants everyone prepared when opportunities arrive. Building those connections now could pay dividends later when the games begin to matter.
For all the excitement surrounding Baltimore's new offense, Jackson believes trust between teammates remains the foundation of everything else.
