Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
The Lakers signed Dennis Hamilton, a 6-foot-8 forward, as an undrafted free agent in 1967 after he spent three years at Arizona State University. He spent his rookie season with them and averaged 2.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 8.6 minutes a game.
He played with the Atlanta Hawks the following season before completing his basketball career in the American Basketball Association (ABA) during the 1969-70 and 1970-71 seasons. For his career, Hamilton averaged 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 12.9 minutes per game across both the NBA and ABA.
