SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Hello stranger, the Missouri State Lady Bears making a rare home appearance Tuesday night.
Beth Cunningham’s women’s basketball team is home for only two games in the month of November.
The second game is Tuesday night against Georgia Southern.
After this game, the Lady Bears go to Tulsa then to Florida for a Thanksgiving tournament.
In our Bear Nation update, Georgia Southern is coached by Kickapoo Lady Chief product Hanna Haden.
And her Eagles were flying high early, the court length pass to Liv Fuller for the hoop, it’s a 10-0 start for Georgia Southern.
The Lady Bears settled down, Kaemyn Bekemeier with the mid-range jumper, it’s a six point deficit.
The Eagles keep up the pressure, Kayla Cleveland working hard on the block, it’s 15-4 Georgia Southern.
But MoState would get it in gear in the second quarter.
First Lainie Douglas with the rebound and the put back, Lady Bears down seven.
Then back to back threes from Cady Pauley, the first from the far wing.
The second from the Milan, Mo native from the near corner it was a four point deficit.
JaNyla Bush then would heat up, her three ties the game at 25.
Then the St. Louis native would hit the step back jumper from the free throw line and Missouri State finally had the lead 29-25.
And the Lady Bears controlled the second half and won.
Douglas had a career high 21 points and nine rebounds.
Bekemeier had a double, double 14 points, 13 rebounds.
And the Lady Bears go to 5-0 with a 69-58 win.
