Since the Kentucky Wildcats landed five-star 2027 recruit Ryan Hampton, Big Blue Nation has gotten more excited about Mark Pope's ability to bring in top players. The Cats are in the running for a number of other elite recruits in next year's class, and this week, they added two more targets in Asa Montgomery and Howard Williams.

Montgomery is a 6'7", 195 lb small forward out of Georgia. He is rated four stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 41 overall player in the class, though other services have him higher. He averaged 27.9 points per game on the Nike EYCL circuit over the summer, and is a rising prospect.

Williams is a 6'6", 215 lb power forward out of Texas. 247Sports has him rated at four stars as well, and ranked as the No. 47 overall player in next year's group. He's playing on the Puma Pro16 circuit, and has had Kentucky coaches in attendance.

Both players are rising talent who could go much higher in the rankings as this season progresses. Montgomery has heard from multiple SEC schools already, and Williams already has several offers as well. Pope and his staff have focused on players that are not only talented, but fit his system. Players don't have to be top ten recruits to be important members of a team, and Montgomery and Williams would be two fine additions to the roster, and long-term important pieces to the squad.
