Newly released evidence from the Collin County, Texas, murder trial of Karmelo Anthony has provided a closer look at the case in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a Dallas-area track meet last April.
The materials released by the court include photographs of the knife introduced as evidence, images of Anthony’s backpack, surveillance footage from inside the Memorial High School team tent moments before the confrontation, and video highlighting Anthony’s movements before and after the incident.
This marks the first time the public has seen the photos and video evidence presented at trial, as cameras were prohibited inside the courtroom during the proceedings.
The release comes after a jury convicted Anthony of murder and sentenced him to 35 years in prison, rejecting his claim that he acted in self-defense during the altercation.

The evidence release also arrives as Anthony’s legal team pursues an appeal.
One argument raised during the trial centered on the physical size difference between Anthony and Metcalf. However, jurors ultimately concluded that the height and weight disparity did not justify the use of deadly force.
CBS News Texas reporter J.D. Miles posted videos and photos of the newly released evidence on X Friday night. One post includes police body camera footage which he says recorded Anthony saying, “I’m not alleged, I did it.” The video captures the audio, but Anthony is not in frame.
This is a developing article that will be updated with additional information.
