The Sandwich girls lacrosse team are the top seed in Division 4 of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament.
The Blue Knights (16-3) started their playoff run with a 21-1 victory over Bourne (6-14) in the Round of 32.
Addie Greene had three goals, while Elisabeth Stutzman (one assist), Quinn Anderson (one assist), Audrey Anderson, Elle Schulz and Emily McDade each scored twice for Sandwich.
Kyla Darmon (two assists), Lydia Katzenback, Natalie Belcher, Anya Kelsch, Taryn Colbert, Bella Barrett, Ginger Gaffney and Ella Murphy each tallied one goal.
In other high school sports action:
Div. 4, Round of 32: No. 12 Seekonk 16, No. 21 Dennis-Yarmouth 10: The Dolphins (8-10) came up short of a first round upset. Carolyn O'Keefe (three goals), Nadia Cerqueira (two goals), Ella Contonio (one assist), Jenna Richard (three goals, one assist), Mia Medeiros (one goal) and Maya Turek (one goal) led the offense. Arianna Caruso and Riley Caruso played well on defense, while Mya Cerqueira had 10 saves in net.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 17 Hanover 6, No. 16 Nauset 3: The Warriors (13-6) were upset at home in their playoff opener to end their season.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 12 Falmouth 18, No. 21 North Middlesex Reg. 5: The Clippers (13-6) kicked off their postseason with a home victory.
MVADA Championship: Cape Tech 9, Upper Cape 6: The Crusaders (13-6) beat the Rams (15-4) for the Massachusetts Vocational Athletic Directors Association championship.
Talon Joia scored five times, while Miles Yerkes added four goals for Cape Tech.
Jacoby Staruski finished with three goals and one assist for Upper Cape.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 16 Gloucester 3, No. 17 Cape Cod Academy 2: The Seahawks (14-3) fell in the first round of the playoffs.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 19 St. John Paul II 3, No. 14 Medway 2: The Lions (9-9) upset their opponent on the road to start their playoff run.
