JL Van Rensburg of Tennessee finished second in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 10.
The sophomore from Mossel Bay, South Africa, cleared 66 feet, 8.5 inches to tie the school record set by Jordan West in 2022.
Oregon freshman Ben Smith was first at 69-0.5. He's Oregon first champion in the shot put in 44 years.
Van Rensburg spent his first season at Baylor.
