Tennessee track and field won the 4x100-meter relay at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 12 to stun the favorites in the field.
The relay of Traunard Folson, Davonte Howell, T'Mars McCallum and Elijah Clark finished in a school record time of 37.98 seconds.
LSU was second (38.06) and Ohio State third (38.44).
Auburn, which had one two straight national titles in the event and broke the NCAA record in the semifinals at 37.75, did not finish after a botched handoff on the final exchange.
Arkansas, the SEC champion, dropped the handoff on the second exchange.
JL Van Rensburg of Tennessee finished second in the shot put on June 10. The sophomore from Mossel Bay, South Africa, cleared 66 feet, 8.5 inches to tie the school record set by Jordan West in 2022.
Oregon freshman Ben Smith was first at 69-0.5. He's Oregon first champion in the shot put in 44 years.
Van Rensburg spent his first season at Baylor.
