Since the QB’s will be gone, draft Francis Mauigoa and be done with it. Fix the oline first and the get a RB.

I've read that he may be a guard at the Nfl level. I don't want to draft a right tackle let alone a guard at the #3 pick.

I just dont know Ive stated before if he is like Eric Dickerson. Adrian Peterson etc then yes you have to take him but tbh is there actually anyone better or higher rated other than Mendoza?

If I knew he’d be Bijan I’d do it but the position is too dependent on so many things to risk it. Look at Jeanty.

I know I actually go all the way back to seeing Otis Anderson being drafted before Lawrence Taylor Both had Great carreers but LT won Super Bowls Before Otis Did most all the other Great Rb's never did ie Dickerson,Sanders, Campbell thats my dilema and would/could the Cards surround him or any other of our stars with competent offense/defense lines and Coaching Staffs damn it sucks sometimes being a lifelong Cards Fan

LT was the 2nd overall pick. Anderson wasn't taken in the same draft. Your post confuses me, except for the part "it sucks sometimes being a lifelong Cards Fan ".

Yep Anderson was in the 79 draft Tayler the 81 draft my point was If we always seem to be just a step behind from the old mam Bidwill to the current owners and everything in between

Personally I think this draft sucks at the top. This I just take the most talented player. If it’s love or downs, that’s who I take. I don’t to take a rb or s, but can’t squander the 3 on a lesser talent.

As of this moment, our RB room is a major need. The RBs who finished out the season played hard but at best should be considered ‘change of pace backs’ and talent for ST play. There are major health issues and, in the case of Conner, the 30+ age factor. Benson went down before we even had opportunity to see if he was capable of RB1.

Assume that JB is our starting QB going into next season. That’s a big assumption—the new HC may get hired to work with KM instead and we might just see JB the one traded away. Even with JB’s shortened season, Cards still finished in the top 5 for passing yards but at 31st in rushing.

Too many times, our rush attempts left JB facing long third downs. We might have a few wins if we had a running game—or at least a RB1 talent---to go along with JB’s grit to stand and deliver from the pocket. Teams learned early on that we did not have a run game and instead could go after JB and pad their sack total. They could count on taking on our scatbacks with arm tackles.

I’m with Mark22 and others on Love. Trade down and for an extra 2 pick and take RB Love and with the extra 2nd go OL. We are staring at another ‘rebuild’ and a second 3-win season. That long IR list will cripple the next coach even more so than it did Gannon and his assistants. The next HC is looking at a roster closer to what you see with an expansion team and not a mature program.

Here’s an old article on how a NFL expansion team gets players for its first season:

Cards would probably fare better with next year’s roster if they could go the expansion team route instead of standing outside the ER hospital room and welcoming back their own recently repaired and rehabbed IR players. It is going to be a major challenge to sift through the IR returning players while still bringing in potential new guys via draft/FA. Look for a lot of injury settlement releases.

At least RB Love will provide some ‘splash plays’ with his athletic ability to compensate for whatever OL gets stitched together as our starters. (Plenty of Youtube video of Love in action. He's got some moves and some burst). Long-time Card fans recall who the Cards selected in the draft when Adrian Peterson was still on the draft board.

Anderson not being in the HOF is a big snub. C'mon, Leroy Kelly is in, but Ottis isn't??
Kelly: 7274 yards, 74 TD's . 9 playoff games, 417 yards, zero awards.
Anderson: 10273 yards 81 TD's . 8 playoff games 433 yards, SUPER BOWL MVP, Rookie of the year in '79.

Pick a QB prospect you like in round 3 and maybe bring in a project vet QB. Failing Mendoza, there are no good answers. The only worse answer is keeping KM.
Where I disagree with you about KM is that if we keep him and Jacoby and draft a QB in the 3rd round, we'll have:
* Protection from injury.
* Time to develop our new QB w/o throwing him to the wolves.
* And even if you don't want KM, I think he gives the best chance of winning, while the team develops the new QB. And, if the new QB develops sooner than expected, KM could be traded.

Otis was drafted in 1979 and LT was 1981. LT went #2 overall that year and we drafted EJ Junior after LT.
