No, not he's not. Peterson made the 2000 yard club as a 17 year old. The only thing that ever slowed Peterson down was injuries, but he's still an all time great in college and in the pros.
Love had 2800 yards in his 3 year career at ND, and a middling 1300 was his career high. For reference Cam Skattebo almost matched that in 2 years at ASU.
Love is a very good player, but like I said, he hasn't shown he can be a work horse really. He's not the slam dunk everyone here is saying. Even Zierlein's grading system over at NFL.com has Love as an inferior prospect to Jeanty (7.1 vs 6.7).
Those skinny little legs and lack of high carry games are some warts. We don't know if he can physically handle a large workload over a long season because he didn't even handle a large workload at ND.
I really like Love and think he can be a really good NFL player, but that's not for certain, and where this team sits now I think investing in the lines is a better option.
