The Denver Broncos are turning the offense over to backup quarterback Jarrett "Stiddy" Stidham after losing starting quarterback Bo Nix to a season-ending ankle injury.
That "Stiddy" nickname was coined by former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady when they were teammates in 2019.
“Tom Brady actually came up with that my rookie year, so it’s just kind of stuck,” Stidham told the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson in 2024. “And everybody now just calls me ‘Stiddy.’”
Broncos fans rallied behind Stidham this week by changing their profile pictures to a viral meme with the hashtag #StiddyParty. The 29-year-old quarterback appreciates the support.
"It’s great," Stidham said earlier this week. "Broncos Country, in my opinion, is arguably the best fanbase in sports. I’m really excited to get out there in front of them. It’s been a long time since this game’s been played here, so I know that they’ll be rocking on Sunday.”
Sunday's game (1:00 p.m. MT) will be nationally televised on CBS (more TV info).
