Jacksonville Jaguars' rookie linebacker Jalen McLeod will not be returning for the playoffs.

According to Aaron Wilson, McLeod will remain on injured reserve with his practice period expiring on Wednesday.

McLeod was placed on injured reserve during roster cutdowns with an ankle injury. The week leading up to the Denver game, McLeod returned to practice for the first time.

Once a player is designated to return to practice from injured reserve, the team then has three weeks to add him back to the 53-man roster. If that move isn't made, that player remains on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

McLeod's window to return is now closed.

This was always the most likely option in this scenario. As an incoming rookie, McLeod has missed a lot of practice time, and that can be hard to make up for in a relatively small time frame.

However, by having McLeod on the practice field, he was able to begin getting reacclimated to the defense, and it provided the coaches with an opportunity to see him in action.

The Jagurs drafted McLeod in the sixth-round of this past April's draft out of Auburn.
