Dec. 6—FERGUS FALLS — The Bemidji High School boys swimming and diving team took fourth place and won one event at the Uvaas Otter Invite in Fergus Falls.
Matthew Winkle, Daniel Scherling, William Lohse and Tanner Johnson got the Lumberjacks' only win Friday in the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.53). They finished only 0.37 seconds ahead of second-place Fergus Falls.
Outside of the 200 medley relay, several Jacks got second place. Abraham Benson finished runner-up in the 100-yard IM (1:08.60). He also finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.72).
Johnson picked up second in the 200 IM (2:12.41), while Crockett Puschinsky took second in the diving competition (177.05).
Daniel Scherling picked up a third-place finish in the 50 frees in 24.37, and Matthew Winkle finished third in the 100 freestyle (59.31). Winkle also finished fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.35).
Hunter Anderson picked up a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke (44.29) to round out the day for the Jacks.
