Bemidji takes 5th at Hibbing invite

Jan. 31—HIBBING — Following a Friday

home triangular,

the Bemidji High School boys swimming and diving team immediately headed on the road to Hibbing Saturday morning.

With a combination of metro and northern Minnesota teams competing in the Hibbing invite, Bemidji placed fifth with 275 points. Grand Rapids took first with 541 points.

Daniel Scherling got the best finish for BHS in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:03.06. He would also place sixth in the 200 IM (2:17.08).

The Lumberjacks also earned two third place finishes: Matthew Winkle in the 100 backstroke (1:01.42) and the team of William Lohse, Caleb Knott, Kyle Yoder and Scherling in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.97).

Other Jacks had top 10 finishes on the day. Crockett Puschinsky scored fifth in the one meter dive (309.2 points), Matthew Winkle, Abraham Benson, Andrew Breczinski and Dallas Dopp finished sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:52.99), Yoder placed sixth in the 100 freestyle (54.57) and Brayden Anderson finished sixth in the 100 breststroke (1:07.33).

Lohse finished fourth in the 100 butterfly (59.06) and ninth in the 200 IM (2:19.08).

1-Grand Rapids 541; 2-Duluth East 374; 3-Benilde-St. Margaret's 311; 4-Bloomington Jefferson 292; 5- Bemidji 275; 6-Hibbing 183; 7-Richfield-AHA 153; 8-Simley 137; 9-Rock Ridge 56.
