Greetings, BBN!
After a long and extensive search to find Mitch Barnhart’s replacement, the University of Kentucky seemingly pulled a rabbit out of the hat last week when they landed Michigan State athletic director J Batt to take the same position in Lexington, while also being named CEO of Champions Blue LLC.
And now, we have contract details as to what Batt will be making in Lexington. Per the official contract with the school, here is Batt’s salary across his six-year contract:
- 2026: $2.6 million
- 2027: $2.75 million
- 2028: $2.9 million
- 2029: $3.05 million
- 2030: $3.2 million
- 2031: $3.35 million
The $2.6 million Batt will make this year would have been the second-highest pay of any college football AD in 2025, trailing only Penn State’s Patrick Kraft. UK also had to pay Michigan State a $2.5 million buyout to secure Batt’s services.
So, knowing all of this, how would you grade the J Batt hire for UK? Let us know in the poll below and down in the comments section!
