It’s official. Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Heat is complete

SACRAMENTO – The Milwaukee Bucks formally moved into a new era July 6 when their trade of franchise legend Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat became official.

The deal, which ended Antetokounmpo’s 13-year run with the Bucks, was agreed to in principle June 22, but the teams consummated the transaction when the new league year opened at 11 a.m. CT on July 6.

To recap, the Heat received Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis Jr. Antetokounmpo and Portis helped the Bucks win the 2021 NBA championship and 2024 NBA Cup.

Antetokounmpo leaves Milwaukee holding nearly every franchise record. He is also one of the game's top 75 players of all-time and collected two regular season Most Valuable Player awards, one NBA Cup MVP, one all-star MVP and one Defensive Player of the Year award.

• 2033 unprotected first-round draft pick
• 2033 second-round pick
