NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) – Chase Walker led Illinois State to a dominating 73-47 win over Evansville to start Missouri Valley Conference play 4-0. Walker led all scorers with 22 points.

Bradley lost on the road to Belmont 88-78 to snap their seven-game winning streak.

ISU football meanwhile is prepping for Monday’s national championship game. Their greatest receiver in school history Daniel Sobkowicz is not only chasing the ring with the rest of his friends, but also hoping to impress NFL scouts.

I kind of treat every game like it’s like that. I mean, this is just another game for me, I’d say. I mean, obviously there’s a lot more at stake with our team. And you know, a national championship. But, um, for me, it’s just going to be another game that I prepare for, just like I always have.

Head coach Brock Spack said Sobkowicz was offered substantial money in the offseason from other schools, but chose to remain with the Redbirds.

I think he understands that his pay day is coming down the road and that he would make more money doing it this way than he would the other way
