New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez has cleared concussion protocol and is set to play in Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Gonzalez suffered a head injury in last week's win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He was forced to leave the game early, but he was back on the field for the Patriots' first practice with a red jersey as a limited participant on Wednesday. By Thursday, he had already shed the red jersey and was a full participant.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel revealed in his media availability on Friday that the corner would be questionable for the game, but when the injury report was released, Gonzalez no longer had an injury designation. That means he has cleared concussion protocol for the game.

Gonzalez being on the field is game-changing for the Patriots' defense. He is one of the team's best players, and his ability to lock down on the backend of the defense dictates coverage.

His presence against a Texans team missing their top receiver, Nico Collins, could be a major advantage for the Patriots.
