OTTUMWA — The Indian Hills Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Craig Sager as head coach of the men's golf program. Sager becomes the 12th head coach in program history.

"We are excited to have Craig lead our men's golf program," stated Indian Hills athletic director Michael Wetrich. "He brings a wide array of experience to IHCC with stops at the NJCAA, Division II and Division I level. We look forward to another great season from our men's golf team under Craig's leadership."

Sager joins the storied Indian Hills men's golf program following a two-year stint as the director of men's and women's golf operations at the University of Nebraska. During the 2025-26 campaign, the Husker men's program set a school record in team stroke average, the third consecutive year the squad improved its team scoring. Academically, the men's and women's programs combined for 15 Academic All-Big Ten honors this past season while four women were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholars.

"I'm honored to be the new head men's golf coach at Indian Hills Community College," stated Sager. "I'm looking forward to building on the strong tradition of this program by developing great student-athletes who compete at a high level. I want to thank the coaches, players, and support staff at the University of Nebraska for the last two years, it was an amazing experience that helped prepare me for this opportunity. I'm grateful to Athletic Director Michael Wetrich and President Dr. Matt Thompson for trusting me with this role. I can't wait to get started with the Warriors."

Prior to his tenure at Nebraska, Sager spent four seasons as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at William Jewell College. During the 2024 campaign, the William Jewell men posted the program's best finish in school history at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament while leading the first-ever individual national qualifier.

Sager's past experience also includes three seasons at North Central Missouri College as the men's head coach, leading the program to back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XVI Championships. The Pirates were also named the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in 2018, producing the top overall team GPA.

Sager previously spent time as the course superintendent at Riverside Country Club in Trenton, Missouri, the general manager at Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe, Missouri and the head professional at Cameron Golf Club in Cameron, Missouri.

A TPI Certified instructor, Sager is a native of Trenton, Missouri. Sager earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Central Missouri.
