Hundreds of para athletes from around the globe will come together to compete in the 2026 Winter Paralympics just over a week after the 2026 Winter Olympics ended.
The opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Paralympics will officially begin on Friday, March 6, with a livestream beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET, and will take place at the Verona Olympic Arena.
At the Paralympics, over 600 para athletes will compete across six sports and 79 medal events. Since the first official Paralympic Games in 1960, when 400 athletes from 23 countries competed, the Games have grown into the world's largest showcase for athletes with disabilities.

The 2026 Winter Paralympics officially begin Friday, March 6, and end Sunday, March 15.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Verona Olympic Arena on March 6, with NBC live-streaming the event beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.
NBC and its affiliates own the broadcasting rights to the Olympics this year. NBC, USA Network, and CNBC will offer live TV coverage, while live and on-demand streaming will be available through Peacock.
Peacock and USA Network will air live coverage of the opening ceremony at 2 p.m. ET, with pre-show coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. NBC and Peacock will air primetime highlight shows on Saturday, March 7, and Saturday, March 14, at 8 p.m. ET.
NBC, USA Network, and CNBC will air 80 hours of programming, including a record eight hours on the main NBC channel. NBC Sports Digital will stream more than 270 hours, while Peacock will offer coverage of every event.
NBC's Paralympics coverage will culminate in live coverage of the sled hockey gold medal game on Sunday, March 15, at 11:05 a.m. ET, with the U.S. potentially going for its fifth consecutive gold medal.
Like the 2026 Winter Olympics, the 2026 Winter Paralympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
