Two of the most decorated programs in the history of college hockey clash on Thursday at the Frozen Four when the No. 2-seeded North Dakota Fighting Hawks (29-9-1) face off with the Wisconsin Badgers (23-12-2) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

North Dakota, the regular-season champions of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, stormed through the Sioux Falls regional, blanking Merrimack 3-0 in the regional semifinals before punching its Frozen Four ticket with a 5-0 victory over Quinnipiac on March 28. The Fighting Hawks are third all-time with eight national championships and return to the Frozen Four for the first time since winning it all in 2016.

Wisconsin finished fourth in the Big Ten during the regular season and entered the Worcester regional as the third seed, knocking off No. 2 seed Dartmouth 5-1 before upsetting No. 3 national seed Michigan State 4-3 in overtime on March 28. The Badgers sit fourth on the list of all-time championships with six and are back in the Frozen Four for the first time since 2010. Wisconsin’s last title came in 2006.
Dylan James paces the Fighting Hawks with 21 goals, while Will Sellers comes in with 18. Ellis Rickwood leads the club with 36 points. Jan Špunar brings a 20-4-1 record with six shutouts, a .917 save percentage, and 1.90 goals against average. Quinn Finley is the Badgers’ top goal-scorer with 17, while Christian Fitzgerald is right behind with 16. Gavin Morrissey’s 36 points lead the team. Daniel Hauser is 20-7-2 with three shutouts, a .899 save percentage, and 2.56 GAA.
The winner faces the victor of the later semifinal between No. 1 national seed Michigan and Denver in Saturday’s championship game.
