The Michigan Wolverines (31-7-1), the No. 1 national seed for the NCAA tournament, return to the Frozen Four for the fourth time in five years on Thursday night to take on the Denver Pioneers (27-11-3) in a national semifinal at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Michigan held the record of nine national championships until 2024, when Denver won its 10th, and looks for its first title since 1998. The Wolverines finished second in the Big Ten during the regular season before claiming the conference tournament title and got to Las Vegas with a 5-1 regional semifinal victory over Bentley, followed by a 4-3 win over Minnesota Duluth on March 9 to win the Albany regional crown.

Denver plays in its third consecutive Frozen Four. The Pioneers placed second in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference before claiming the NCHC Frozen Faceoff title with a double-overtime win over Minnesota Duluth. Seeded second in the Loveland regional, Denver blanked Cornell 5-0 in the regional semifinal before blasting defending national champion and No. 4 national seed Western Michigan 6-2 on March 29.
Will Horcoff leads the Wolverines with 25 goals, while T.J. Hughes adds 21 to go with a team-high 56 points. Jack Ivankovic is 25-7-1 in net with three shutouts, a .923 save percentage, and 2.13 goals against average. Eric Pohlkamp paces the Pioneers with 18 goals and 21 points, with Rieger Lorenz checking in with 16 goals. Johnny Hicks took over the starting goaltending duties in late January and comes in 14-0-1 with three shutouts, a .958 save percentage, and 1.12 GAA.
Thursday night’s winner faces off with either Wisconsin or North Dakota in Saturday’s national championship game.
