The first elimination game of the College World Series takes place on Sunday when the Troy Trojans (38-31) try to keep their first visit to Omaha going when they take on the Ole Miss Rebels (41-22) at Charles Schwab Field.

Troy came back from an early deficit to tie No. 16-seeded West Virginia on Friday before the Mountaineers pushed across two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 7-5 win. The Trojans took their only lead in the fourth, scoring three runs on Steven Meier’s sacrifice fly followed by an RBI single from Drew Nelson and a run-scoring double by Sean Darnell. Jimmy Janicki tied the game in the seventh with a solo home run. Zach Crotchfelt took the loss in relief, allowing two runs in 4.1 innings while striking out five.
Ole Miss took a 2-1 lead on Judd Utermark’s RBI single in the top of the seventh before No. 4 seed North Carolina roared back for a 6-2 first-round win on Friday night. Dom Decker spotted the Rebels a 1-0 lead in the third with a run-scoring double, while Taylor Rabe allowed just a run on two hits over 5.2 innings, striking out seven, before exiting after throwing 108 pitches.
The winner advances to play the loser of Sunday night’s game between West Virginia and North Carolina in an elimination game scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
