How Roman Anthony Reacted To Red Sox's 'Shocking' Managerial Change originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Roman Anthony and the Boston Red Sox players entered a much different locker room on Sunday.
The Red Sox fired Alex Cora and five members of his coaching staff on Saturday. Chad Tracy will jump from Triple-A Worcester to serve as Boston's interim manager.
Anthony returns to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after missing the last four games with a back injury. The 21-year-old outfielder was surprised by the shakeup but commended Tracy as a worthy replacement.
"He's tremendous at what he does, and I think there's a reason that everyone who goes through Triple-A and was in Worcester with him loves him," Anthony told reporters. "We know he's gonna have our back and do everything he can during this tough time.
"Again, shocking, right? Didn't expect it, but now you kind of just adapt and overcome. Trace is gonna be great."

Anthony reflected on how the clubhouse responded to an address from chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, team president Sam Kennedy and owner John Henry on Sunday morning. He thinks it's ultimately on the players to flip the script.
"It's one of those things that kind of has to be said. But at the same time, as players, you kind of huddle up and understand that we're still held to the same standard," Anthony said. "We're still gonna be held to the same standard by the fans, by the people around us and within ourselves.
"I think regardless of who's here and who's not here, when we take the field we hold ourselves to that standard. If we continue to do that, things are gonna turn. Things are gonna be just fine. Obviously this is weird, but at the same time, it's gonna be all right."
Anthony will begin Tracy's tenure by batting third for the first time this season. Sunday's game starts at 1:35 p.m. ET.
