Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony has missed the team's last 14 games due to injury.

The 22-year-old was originally placed on the injured list with a wrist ailment, but Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy updated the situation on Friday.

"Sam Kennedy on @TheGregHillShow says Roman Anthony has a sprain in ligament on base of ring finger. No tear," WEEI's Rob Bradford posted on X.

Anthony recently suffered a setback in his recovery and has been shut down from swinging a bat.

The former second-round draft pick was mentioned by some as a possible darkhorse candidate for this season's AL MVP award but had struggled to produce prior to the injury.

Anthony has recorded one home run, five RBIs and a .229/.354/.321 slash line across 130 plate appearances covering 30 games this season.
