SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The No. 10 Angelo State University softball team swept a doubleheader against Lone Star Conference newcomer UT Dallas to send the Belles’ fans home happy Friday at Mayer Field.
The Belles rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win the opener 7-4, and they won the nightcap 8-3.
ASU improved to 27-6 overall and 16-2 in the LSC, while UT Dallas dropped to 5-13 and 3-11.
In Game 1, Penelope Hurtado had a two-run single in the fourth, Zoey Sifuentes went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
The Belles rallied from an early 4-0 deficit.
Reliever Addy Ewing (10-0) worked the final three innings, allowing just two hits and no earned runs.
In the nightcap, Sifuentes had a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the fourth.
Madison Ruiz went the distance in the circle, limiting the Comets to three hits and three earned runs in seven complete.
