SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The No. 8 Angelo State University softball team remained unblemished in Lone Star Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader against Texas A&M International by a combined score of 17-1 Friday at Mayer Field.
The Belles took the opener 9-1, followed by an 8-0 shutout in the nightcap. Both games ended by the mercy rule after five innings.
ASU improved to 17-4 overall and 6-0 in the LSC. The Belles pushed their winning streak to six games.
Ashleigh Dendas went 3-for-3 with a two-run single and a two-run double to finish with four RBI’s in Game 1. Zoey Sifuentes drove in three runs, including a two-run two-bagger. She went 2-for-3.
Tatianna Trotter drew a pair of walks and scored three runs in the opener.
Madison Ruiz (4-3) earned the win, giving up three hits and one earned run in five complete.
Sifuentes and Trotter had solo home runs in Game 2.
Dendas (8-1) got the win in the circle. She handcuffed the Dustdevils, holding them to just one hit in five innings.
The Belles will have an alumni game at 2 p.m. Saturday, before hosting another doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville starting at 1 p.m. Sunday.
