Rumors of an active market for Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton may have been greatly exaggerated, at least according to general manager Dan Morgan.

On Wednesday, ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Panthers "have been getting calls" about a potential trade of the veteran passer. Schefter's report came a day after Morgan, during his media availability from the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, told reporters that he's looking to add some competition behind starter Bryce Young.

Well, he was asked about Dalton again—this time, on Thursday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show. And while he did seem open to a move, Morgan stated that he hasn't been working the phones on that particular front.

"I haven't talked to any teams about a trade," Morgan told host Pat McAfee. "But I think if the possibility did come up—that I would talk to Andy, give him that option and explore a trade.

"I do think that we wanna get a little younger and a little more athletic at that backup quarterback spot. So we'll see what happens from there."

Dalton, 38, will be entering his 16th pro campaign in 2026. The upcoming season will also mark the last on his current deal with the Panthers.

The three-time Pro Bowler made one start in 2025, in place of an injured Young. He completed 16 of his 24 throws for 175 yards and an interception in a 40-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
