In a move that'll surely impact Tanner McKee, Adam Schefter reports the Eagles are acquiring veteran QB Andy Dalton from the Panthers in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round pick, adding experience and depth to the quarterback room.

Dalton has a year left on his current contract, and the move comes after Carolina GM Dan Morgan indicated that Dalton would have to compete for the backup job (behind Bryce Young) with a younger QB to be added through free agency or the draft. Dalton had just one start during four regular-season appearances with the Panthers in 2025, and the 38-year-old second-round pick by the Bengals in 2011 has 169 regular-season starts to his credit. He will be a huge addition for Jalen Hurts.

The move could signal a potential trade for backup quarterback Tanner McKee, or serve as an indictment of his slow development. The talented quarterback saw full-game action just once last season. McKee started in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders with the opportunity to help Philadelphia move into the No. 2 seed with a Bears loss to the Packers. McKee was 21-40 passing, one touchdown, one interception, and a 68.9 rating, a far cry from his 2024 debut.
