Harry Kane says what people are saying about England just doesn’t make sense

England supporters will be hoping for another Harry Kane masterclass on Wednesday in their semi-final against Argentina.

The 32-year-old striker remains in the race for the Golden Boot having scored six goals during this summer’s tournament.

It is not just the Bayern Munich goalscorer who has impressed for the Three Lions, with Jude Bellingham also scoring six goals.

The Real Madrid midfielder scored twice at the weekend during England’s quarter-final against Norway.

However, this has seen a number of people suggest Thomas Tuchel’s side are over-reliant on Kane and Bellingham.

Kane has now responded to this suggestion ahead of Wednesday’s game against Argentina.

Harry Kane reacts to England criticism involving him and Jude Bellingham​

Kane praised Erling Halaand ahead of the game on Saturday in Miami, with the Norway striker seriously impressing during this summer’s tournament.

It has been a summer in which the star players have all shone.

“I don’t know what people expect. It’s like Argentina rely on [Lionel] Messi, France rely on [Kylian] Mbappe, [Michael] Olise, Spain rely on [Lamine] Yamal maybe,” Kane told BBC Sport.

“It’s like we’re the guys who people expect to score, and now we score, it’s like, ‘oh, they’re scoring too much. Maybe other people should score.’ It doesn’t really completely make sense.”

Mbappe and Messi still lead the way for the Golden Boot having both scored eight goals.

However, 12 of England’s 13 goals this tournament have been scored by with Kane or Bellingham.

There is a clear reliance on these two players to produce the goods in front of goal, with Saturday’s game against Norway highlighting that as Bellingham saved England from elimination.

Facing a tricky Argentina side on Wednesday may require England’s other stars to step up, though.
