PSG has seen many stars pass through its squad in recent years. The French capital club, however, failed to attract Harry Kane, who was not convinced by the Parisian project at the time.
PSG will play in another Champions League final next Saturday, aiming to secure a second consecutive UCL title. An accomplishment that would be historic for the capital club. Luis Enrique's arrival has profoundly changed PSG's dynamic, both in terms of gameplay and group management.
In recent years, Paris has often experienced disappointments on the European stage, as well as in certain major transfer windows. It is no secret: the Parisian management had notably tried to attract Kane before the English international joined Bayern Munich.
According to information from L'Equipe, "in 2023, Kane felt that Paris did not offer enough sporting guarantees." The former Tottenham player notably doubted PSG's ability to win the Champions League.
A choice that may now seem regrettable for the English striker, as the Parisian club won the competition in 2025 against Inter Milan and could do it again this season against Arsenal, after eliminating Bayern Munich in the semifinals.
PSG has since invested in other offensive profiles to build its project. While some signings have not always been successful, the squad built by Luis Enrique now appears much more balanced.
Bayern, like many other big European clubs, has recently seen this. Kane, who said at the time that he urgently needed to win the Champions League, may regret this decision for a long time. Nice revenge for Paris.
Next summer, PSG will continue this targeted recruitment policy without necessarily overpaying for players who are not enthusiastic about joining Paris. A strategy that is paying off, and the Parisian management gives full power to its Luis Enrique-Luis Campos duo to lead operations.
To tell the truth, Kane would adapt quite well to Enrique's system, and it would have been more than interesting to see him play in Paris. However, the Spanish coach found an unexpected and very efficient solution: Ousmane Dembele.
PSG is going for its second Champions League, while Bayern has accumulated two consecutive eliminations since Kane's arrival. That is football.
It is not as if the Englishman has done badly in Germany either; he finally broke his drought of team titles and continues to break countless individual records with his goals. That said, nothing compares to the dream of lifting the Champions League.
