GT have found ways to get Sooryavanshi out, but can they do it again in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2?
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi walked off the field in Mullanpur on Wednesday having scored 97 off 29 balls to carry Rajasthan Royals past Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 Eliminator.
The teenager broke Chris Gayle's record of most sixes in a single IPL season and came within touching distance of scoring the fastest IPL ton in the history of the tournament.
It was nothing short of a carnage in New Chandigarh as he hit 12 maximums, with four of them coming against Australia speedster Pat Cummins.

Now, in a virtual semi-final, RR face Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for a place in the finals.
Sooryavanshi has faced GT twice in IPL 2026, and in both matches, he got off to a start but failed to convert it to a big score. In two matches, he has scored 67 runs from 34 balls at a combined strike rate of 197.05.
Although RR won the first match, GT triumphed in the return fixture as they emerged victorious by a massive margin of 77 runs.
The Cricket News takes a look at how Sooryavanshi has performed in those two matches against GT.

What is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's record against GT in IPL 2026?
In their first meeting at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 4, Sooryavanshi scored 31 off 18 balls before Rashid Khan got the breakthrough.
It was a back-of-a-length delivery on middle and leg that seemed to grip the surface slightly. Sooryavanshi went for the slog but could not get under it properly, picking out Glenn Phillips at deep midwicket.
Although RR went on to win that game by six runs, thanks to Dhruve Jurel's heroics with the bat, Rashid has got his blueprint.
The second meeting in Jaipur on May 9 was a different story. Mohammed Siraj bowled a short ball at 146.6 kph that climbed sharply on middle and leg, cramping Sooryavanshi on the pull.
He could not get his arms free and could only top-edge it to Arshad Khan running in from short fine leg. Sooryavanshi had made 36 off 16 balls by that point, but GT went on to win the game by 77 runs.

The Cricket News Opinion: Can GT get Sooryavanshi early again?
GT have two proven methods against Sooryavanshi this season. Rashid's skiddy back-of-a-length variation that grips the surface, and Siraj's short ball aimed at cramping his pull.
Neither approach is guaranteed to work twice in a knockout game, especially against a batter who made a significant technical correction mid-season when opponents tried to target him with a similar short-ball plan.

He arrives in Qualifier 2 in peak form, having just dismantled one of the best bowling attacks in the competition in a knockout game. GT have managed to execute under pressure against Sooryavanshi twice this season. And they desperately need to do it again in Qualifier 2.
In fact, the Titans must see the back of him in the first four overs. If Sooryavanshi is still standing at the powerplay, the game could already be over.
