Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shows mature 'anchor' side in IPL 2026 playoffs: Ready for ODIs?
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the limelight in the IPL 2026 campaign even though his team failed to progress beyond Qualifier 2 after losing against GT in the virtual semi-final.
Sooryavanshi broke multiple records throughout the tournament, the most recent one being the youngest ever to score more than 700 runs in a single edition of the IPL.
His performance in the two IPL playoff games has particularly been praised. Despite being only 15, the southpaw scored 97 and 96, respectively, in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, both of which were high-stakes matches.
Sooryavanshi played a very mature knock of 96 runs in 47 balls in the Qualifier 2 and anchored the RR innings when the other batters were collapsing. He did not start slogging right from the off and instead kept his patience and selected the right shots.
His final appearance against GT in the IPL 2026 showed that Sooryavanshi not only deserves a place in the Indian T20I side, but he is also a strong contender to grab a spot in the Indian ODI team soon.
With Rohit Sharma's long-term future already under the scanner, it is safe to say that India have found the stalwart's perfect replacement in the ODI side.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi eyeing T20I debut for India first
Before breaking into the Indian ODI side, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will surely make his T20I debut soon for the Men in Blue.
After facing Afghanistan in a one-off Test match and a three-match ODI series, India are set to play Ireland for a three-match T20I series.
While the BCCI are yet to officially announce the Indian T20I squad, it is kind of given that Sooryavanshi will earn his maiden national team call-up after a memorable IPL 2026 campaign.
Discussions have already begun about whether Sooryavanshi would take Abhishek Sharma's place at the top of the order, or whether he would replace India's T20 World Cup hero, Sanju Samson.
