Not sure Dragic will make the All Stars since Nash us in LA and Paul also. But I would be happy with 15pts, 8 asts for year one
Especially if it is a consistent 15/8 vs. spikes and lows from game to game.

You do realize Nash is going to get crazy ASG votes now right?

And there's Curry, Westbrook, Conley, Parker, Lawson, etc, so there's little to no chance of an All Star appearance especially with how bad the Suns should be.

EDIT: 15/8 would put him at about #8 on points and assists among point guards which is quite good. Somewhat conservatively, I would expect about 13/6. Anything higher is a bonus.

I think Goran is going to score quite a bit. He is more of scoring guard than a facilitator, and not many players on this team can create their own shot, and I think Beasley will rapidly expose himself for the player he is. So Goran will have plenty of opportunity to do some lifting.

I could definitely see him averaging stats like 18-6.

Goran Dragic per gm averages last 23 games of the season in 2011:

18.2 points
8.4 assists
3.4 rebounds
1.9 steals

.481 FG%

.834 FT%

.358 3PT%
38/106
Yea those are the numbers I'm expecting this season...but on a consistent basis for 82 games.

I cant imagine his shooting percentage will be that high with the offensive load he will be carrying. But the rest of the stats are plausible.

Dragic tweeted that he was on his way to PHX this morning. Perhaps today he inks his new deal.

Could it be the second coming...

So I took a quick look at Nash vs Dragic first 4 years... I am not really expecting Dragic to be of Nash's calber, I am just saying we may want to hold judgment at least for one year.

I think it is a mistake to ever compare any player to Nash's career arc since it is so unique among NBA players. The list of young guards who were as good or better than Nash in their first 4 seasons is quite long.

and of that long list, how many were mentored by Nash?

The mentored thing is overrated IMO. If its a situation where the veteran is on his last legs and spends most of the game on the sideline and is backing up the young guy... yes, then you might take into account him helping coach the young dude up. But when the older player is the star of the team, playing 30-40 minutes per game and doing his best to stay in sync with the guys he is out there with, I doubt he has the time or energy to devote himself to the younger player's development.

Especially when, as we've seen, the older player is so unique that the younger one couldn't possibly be a clone. As Dragic found out the first time around. Now we'll see how he does in a system hopefully not designed by Mike D'Antoni for Steve Nash.

I don't think that has much bearing, but you can take a look at Barbosa and Banks as the other young guards mentored by Nash.

Banks was a name I thought I had neatly packed away deep in my memory never to be heard again. :bang:

If we get Wes Johnson, watching the Suns will be 2/5 Rockets (should seem that Dragic never left though) 2/5 Minny Pups and the lone Polish hammer. That's gonna be weird. Maybe Groundhog Jared Dudley will be in the starting five, so the change is not that huge...

But when the solars subs check in, now there's your Phoenix Suns!
