The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team has earned a top-16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Georgia won the SEC during the regular season and defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 11-1 to win the SEC Tournament on Sunday.
The only teams expected to have a better seed than Georgia are the No. 1 UCLA Bruins and the No. 2 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Georgia (46-12, 23-7 SEC) put together one of the most impressive seasons in the country. The Bulldogs lost only one SEC series all season and earned series wins over regional hosts Texas A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State. Georgia went 4-0 against Mississippi State and 2-2 against regional host Florida. The Bulldogs did drop their lone meeting against the Atlanta Regional hosts, Georgia Tech, who won the ACC championship.
Georgia will host the Athens Regional. If the Bulldogs win the Athens Regional, then Georgia is expected go on to host the Athens Super Regional, which would be a three-game series to determine who advances to the College World Series.
Georgia will find out its NCAA Tournament seed in the NCAA Tournament selection show at noon ET on Monday, May 25 (ESPN).
