At this point? No. No he is not. Petzing isn't at fault for that last drive; Gannon is. All it takes is to tell Petzing not to run it 3 straight plays. That's a HC call, not an OC call.

Gannon is telling us who he is this season. I believe him.
100% correct.

Gannon treats 1-3 point leads late like its a TD lead

as i posted in the game thread: on the final offensive possession the goal is FIRST DOWNS, not to run the clock.

on the final three plays: If all they need is a FG -- there is really no difference between punting the ball to TENN with 1:56 and 1 TO vs. 2:15 and 2 TOs.

As bad as that was you would expect a defensive coach to unleash the dogs at least once on that last drive. And, if anything it was even more conservative than the offensive series.

It's completely unacceptable. Say what you want about Kliff's defenses but even they would not have been that freaking conservative. It's a struggling ROOKIE and you do nothing to get in his head.

I just can’t believe how weak this staff has gotten.

The defensive coordinator has talent now and won’t blitz. You let a rookie qb stand in the pocket all day hoping he would make mistakes.

The offensive coordinator doesn’t dictate anything. Calling that 3rd run on 3rd and 8 has to be the end of him.

The QB is just as gutless giving up the ball instead of taking a sack. Not taking leadership of the team and winning the game. Audible to a pass!

It’s all on JG. He can’t remain. None of them can now barring us making the playoffs. We have been out coached in every game this year.

So his foot was on the line and the ball LOOKED like it was at least even with his foot if not further across the line. Did I just get a bad view of it?

But the ball was coming loose from his hand so he doesn't have control of it. That's what they said and I saw a video online that explained it too with one of those NFL ref guys and he said the ball is coming loose from his hand he lost control of the ball before he crossed the line

It’s the NFL; these are real adults and they know that their jobs are tenuous.

Sure but DeMercado got handed a major role upgrade due to injury and responded with that? That's 2 games this year he has blown TD's that contributed to losses. one was a physical error a drop, one was a mental error.

Is it emotional yes but they have to change the culture or else they won't get this team over the hump.

Seriously...we are just plain cursed..no other explanation of the crap we have been forced to experience of the decades..you had to literally try to lose that game today and the Cards found a way to do it...watched too many of these over the years...

If fired tomorrow - do you think his next gig would be a head coach?

lol absolutely not
Of course not. At least not right away. Too many people to choose from before a guy gets fired then immediately hired for the same position.

HC has to take the responsibility but he's a good coach.
Petting and the players cost this game
When that 3rd down play was called, Gannon has the opportunity to call time out and ask Petzing “ What the hell are you doing?”.
He didn’t. So fire Petzing but know Gannon allowed it.

so in other words he wouldn’t be a coveted head coach. Not qualified for the next job, so would be demoted.

I can’t remember a coach being fired then immediately being hired as a head coach. It usually takes at least a year.

Gannon is a fraud. A bag of wind. He is no leader.
That’s been the problem with this process-based, tough guy approach. If it doesn’t work, where do you go? They’ve been preaching this for two seasons now.

Gannon stays if he cans Petzing and starts publicly holding Kyler accountable as opposed to coddling him when he plays poorly. If not, he goes

Gannon said postgame he knows the plays called so even though Petzing calls them he knows what he's calling. But towards the end he said we'll have to look again to see if we put them in the best situation to win or not. you can see in his face he knew the conservative playcalling down the stretch played a huge role in them losing and that just continuing to support the guy calling the plays is probably not a good idea.
