I get it. I manage a small-medium organization (about 35-40 employees who report directly or indirectly to me). In this era, workers have tremendous power and they know it. So, DeMercado royally screws up, Gannon reacts (as many of us might), and Gannon gets punished. It’s not ideal for leaders to be treated in this manner (hard to maintain any authority or credibility), but it’s the current way. Regardless, I’d advocate that the Cards also fine DeMercado, but the players’ union would go bonkers and future free agents would be that less likely to come here. Makes me really feel for Gannon. He’s being squeezed. And what’s he going to do—walk away from a high-paying dream job?

It’s hard to maintain any authority or credibility if your organization looks down upon hitting your players/employees? Am I reading that right?

Nothing would’ve happened if JG just walked away after giving him the verbal thrashing.

At the end of the day, if your head coach is slapping players and getting mad then it adds a demerit to your team for incoming FA and even draft picks. Its a bad look, even though i personally think its was necessary to ignite the freaking team

The cardinals suck and need to start playing like pros, not bums

I have a suspicion this 100k fine will be donated to charity and Gannon won’t lose a cent of pay

It probably came from pressure from the NFLPA, to be honest. Again, it's the physical contact getting caught on camera that made this a thing.

I personally like the emotion out of my head coach!
There was no assault! This world has gotten too soft. Demercado should have had his *ss whipped by his teammates instead of being comforted and hugged by PJJ…”It’s ok buddy, don’t cry!”

It doesn't matter whether any of us think Gannon was justified or not. That type of behavior has LONG been not tolerated. Some of you might remember Frank Kush for getting hot water for something like that and one of the most famous meltdowns ever was Woody Hayes hitting a player. And we are going back around 45-50 years for those two incidents.

These players have a union, there is zero chance of it being able to slide by with an apology. Even Emari making a public statement would not have been enough because they NFLPA thinks about the entire league not just the Cardinals.
I saw frank kush hit IIRC John Jefferson with his clipboard. Chopped him on the back of his neck, right between the helmet and shoulder pads, after he dropped a pass.

No, not saying that Wake. Apologies if I came across that way. Just saying that leadership is more difficult than ever and you cannot lose your cool.

Did Kelce get fined for running into Andy Reid a couple of years ago in Super Bowl?

gannon is gonna to lose this team and he's gonna be gone - puts his hands on cado but puts the petzing on a pedestal even though both cado and petzing did the same thing - quitting on a play that cost gannon the game - not to mention kyler - who was seen covering his mouth talking with paris who was covering his mouth both likely badmouthing petzing - kyler may not be the vocal leader but paris is the alpha male on the offense - if he and kyler are out on petzing the whole offense will follow suit - especially those who want to catch the ball - and win

gannon good as gone - petzing too - unless rallis turns into some defensive phenom he gone too

right, and there is a clip of Reid getting physical with Kelce recently. Such a double standard and huge mistake by Mikey B- to totally clips Gannon's wings and makes him look weak at a critical moment. Ask demarcado if he would rather have his job and take a hit by JG or be on the streets exactly where he should be after that play

This is just some weird line of thinking. Every organization has a Hierarchy. So yes, Gannon answers to two people Mikey and Monti. Because he got disciplined and rightfully so (you don't get physical with other players or coaches) a superior being Disciplined doesn't make him look weak? He's still your boss and can fine/cut/bench or do whatever to your ass if he feels the need!

Do you know how many SGTs/LTs in the military took discipline above me or in the police force? Owning your mistakes and getting in trouble for it now somehow makes you look weak? Just an asinine way of thinking. I'll never understand. It's not different because it's the NFL. Actions are met with consequences.

Gannon's hand probably hurt more from hitting him on the shoulder pads.
