I didn't buy into the playoffs hype this year, but I also didn't see us being the laughing stock of the league by Week 5. The Monti/Gannon era is feeling like an easily preventable waste of time.
So you may see my point as asanine, but I see yours as soft. He didn't draw back a punch, the video looks like he shoulder bumped him and tapped him on the pads. The end result of this - we are now talking about Gannon making a totally non physically damaging contact with a fully padded player and his reprecusions instead of the reprecusions of a player who completely failed at his job and shouldn't be on this team anymore. This is just some weird line of thinking. Every organization has a Hierarchy. So yes, Gannon answers to two people Mikey and Monti. Because he got disciplined and rightfully so (you don't get physical with other players or coaches) a superior being Disciplined doesn't make him look weak? He's still your boss and can fine/cut/bench or do whatever to your ass if he feels the need!
Do you know how many SGTs/LTs in the military took discipline above me or in the police force? Owning your mistakes and getting in trouble for it now somehow makes you look weak? Just an asinine way of thinking. I'll never understand. It's not different because it's the NFL. Actions are met with consequences.
This was the result the team wanted.
Nah. Gannon is on board with the fine and everyone just wanted to move on and not have the situation linger.I wonder if they’re laying a foundation for terminating Gannon for cause
Funny, but BirdGangThing would have pasted Gannons face on that dude....LOLFor 100k, he should have given him his signature move... The Gannon Cannon! From the top rope!!!!

Yep. Gannon was going to be fined by someone. The Cardinals might as well make it look like they were being proactive against workplace harassment. Especially considering all the complaints against Bidwill in the past few years regarding workplace harassment and his attempt to improve workplace culture. This was the result the team wanted.
It is mega hard to fire a coach with cause
That’s significantly worse than slapping a guy in the chest who’s wearing body armor. Not as bad as Woody Hayes though.I saw frank kush hit IIRC John Jefferson with his clipboard. Chopped him on the back of his neck, right between the helmet and shoulder pads, after he dropped a pass.
I remember it quite well as I was a kid and we were living in Jacksonville at the time. It was THE news in town for quite some time. That’s significantly worse than slapping a guy in the chest who’s wearing body armor. Not as bad as Woody Hayes though.

I know it’s football and I prefer hardcore coaches but you just can’t lay hands on anyone anymore. That’s just forbidden.I get it. I manage a small-medium organization (about 35-40 employees who report directly or indirectly to me). In this era, workers have tremendous power and they know it. So, DeMercado royally screws up, Gannon reacts (as many of us might), and Gannon gets punished. It’s not ideal for leaders to be treated in this manner (hard to maintain any authority or credibility), but it’s the current way. Regardless, I’d advocate that the Cards also fine DeMercado, but the players’ union would go bonkers and future free agents would be that less likely to come here. Makes me really feel for Gannon. He’s being squeezed. And what’s he going to do—walk away from a high-paying dream job?
