For the first time as a professional golfer, Tommy Morrison stands tall as a tournament winner.
On Sunday, the 6-foot-9 former Texas Longhorn and Frisco resident claimed the Evans Scholars Invitatonal in Glenview, Illinois, which is part of the Korn Ferry Tour. It was Morrison's fourth start since graduating from PGA Tour University and turning pro earlier this year.
He now has four top-10 finishes in his first four events played on the Korn Ferry Tour. He tied for 10th in his professional debut at the OccuNet Classic, tied for fifth at the Memorial Health Championship and was the runner-up at The Blue Championship.
Morrison enrolled early at Texas in 2023 and had a four-year playing career for the Longhorns. He posted a terrific senior season this past year, highlighted by him becoming the 12th player in program history to compete for Team USA in the Walker Cup (the amateur equivalent of the Ryder Cup), joining former Longhorns like Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler. The Americans took the event 17-9 over Great Britain & Ireland, and in Sunday match play, Morrison was paired with Auburn's Jackson Koivun, who also claimed his first professional win today by holding off Scheffler at the 3M Open.
