WORCESTER - How long can the summer last?
Franklin Post 75 is in the American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional for the first time since 2023. The program went 1-2 in each of its two prior regional appearances and has never reached the American Legion World Series.
There are six teams competing in the Region 1 double elimination tournament, which will run from Aug. 6-9 at Holy Cross' Fitton field and Tivnan Field in Worcester. They come from Massachusetts, Vermond, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. The winner will advance to the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina from August 13-18.
Worcester will also play host to the Mid-Atlantic Region 2 tournament primarily at Tivnan field.
Follow along with Thursday's action, as Franklin faces New Hampshire state champion Bedford Post 54 in the opening round. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 6
Game 1: Essex Post 91 vs. Cumberland Post 14, 11 a.m.
Game 2: Bedford Post 54 vs. Franklin Post 75, 2 p.m
Game 3: Sanford Post 19 vs. Shrewsbury Post 238, 6 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 7
Game 4: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 11 a.m.
Game 5: Game 1 winner vs. Game 3 loser, 2 p.m.
Game 6: Game 2 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 6 p.m.
