Former Vikings starter signing $23 million contract with Packers originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers are adding a former Minnesota Vikings starting defender to their defense.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is signing a two-year deal worth $23 million with the Packers, which includes $13 million in guarantees.
"From Minnesota to Green Bay: Former Vikings DT Javon Hargrave reached agreement today on a 2-year deal for $23 million, including $13 million this year with the Packers, per Drew Rosenhaus," Schefter said.
Hargrave started 15 games for the Vikings in 2025, tallying 3.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. He was officially released by Minnesota at the start of the new league year on Wednesday and found his new home in Green Bay shortly after.
With 130 games of starting experience under his belt, Hargrave is a major addition to the Packers' defensive line, which desperately needed help on the interior.
Though Hargrave is no longer the dynamic pass rusher he once was, he is still a savvy veteran player who should free up rush lanes for his teammates in Green Bay and also still provide solid interior pressure.
For the contract and level of play they should get out of Hargrave, this is a fantastic signing by the Packers as they patch up one of their biggest holes.
