We've officially entered the training camp edition of the Pittsburgh Steelers' countdown to kickoff. With fans needing to wait only 41 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13, we'll take a look at the most recent and best players to ever wear No. 41.
Wilson, who was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, is the current No. 41 on the roster.
Another countdown to kickoff brings us to the greatest No. 41 wearer in franchise history: safety Lee Flowers.
Flowers, drafted with the 151st overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, earned the starting safety role in 1998 and went on to record 403 combined tackles and four interceptions during his career.
A physical safety who wasn’t afraid to lay the boom on opposing offenses, Flowers played in 112 games from 1995 to 2002. He also started in Super Bowl XXX with Pittsburgh and remained an underrated contributor to the secondary throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Considering his physical style of play, consistency, and impact in Pittsburgh’s secondary, Flowers is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 41.
