Former LSU baseball pitcher Gage Jump recorded another scoreless outing in his latest start for the Athletics. He made his debut on May 26 and has stayed in the starting rotation ever since.
On Wednesday, the left-handed pitcher took the mound against the San Francisco Giants. He hurled five shutout frames and gave up just three hits and a walk. Jump finished with nine strikeouts, a career best at the top level.
Jump boasts a 1.19 ERA in the month of June. He logged five starts during the month, giving up just four runs. He also has 30 strikeouts and three wins, picking up his first big league victory on June 2 at the Chicago Cubs. He went seven innings and allowed just one run in his first away contest.
Jump began 2026 in Triple-A with the Las Vegas Aviators. In nine starts, he posted a 4.50 ERA and 56 strikeouts through 38 innings of work. It was his first stint at that level after finishing 2025 in Double-A.
The Athletics drafted Jump in 2024. The southpaw played two seasons of college baseball, the first at UCLA and the last at LSU. While donning the purple and gold, Jump finished with a 3.47 ERA and 101 strikeouts over 83 innings and 15 starts.
